Welcome to the Nexus Novem website. As we enter 2024, I'm excited to introduce this website as a showcase of work done, work in-progress and musings on software development in general.
About Nexus Novem
Nexus Novem is the business entity of my software development service. I specialize in helping businesses lasso and tame the rapidly evolving digital data landscape. AI and ML projects and transparency requirements are making the proper enterprise wide collection and handling of data ever more important.
The Name
Nexus Novem, it's Latin of course but what does it mean?
Well, it means "nine links" - why this? For years, I had the same nine sites bookmarked in my Firefox browser bookmark bar. These were the most important websites in my technology and science worldview. I visited them daily and they shaped much of my growth as a software technologist. So what are those nine sites? You'll see through my blogs in the next year or so! The first is previewed below.
Note: I'm no Latin expert and the name was created using an online Latin translator. It may not be semantically correct, but it has a nice ring and is good enough for a business brand. :D
My Goal - 26 Blog Posts in 2024
One of the nine links is the personal blog site of the venture capitalist Fred Wilson. I discovered his blog shortly after MBA school and was fascinated with his writings blending entrepreneurship, venture capital, software and economics. It was and is still mandatory weekly reading for me.
One inspiring thing that he does is attempt to blog near daily. He's mostly achieved this. It's hard to put your ideas out there everyday, especially when you don't feel like it nor have the time. That's great discipline. The kind I strive for.
So my goal for this blog going into 2024 is to put up at least one blog entry every two weeks. That's certainly not everyday, but I think it's a good balance as I strive for quality over quantity. I'll be tracking my progress. I hope you do too!
